Today is an exciting day for Energy Efficiency Alberta. Efficiency Canada released its first-ever Canadian Provincial Energy Efficiency Policy Scorecard. Alberta went from no energy efficiency programs to ranking sixth nationally in a little over two years.
The scorecard identified two areas where Alberta has risen to the top of the pack. In the area of Electricity Program Savings, our progress in 2017 was noted and described as impressive. In addition, Alberta was recognized for developing comprehensive financing offerings like the Clean Energy Improvement Program which enables financing for energy efficiency upgrades through property tax bills, as well as the Green Loan Guarantee Program. In fact, Alberta is one of three provinces that offers these unique financing programs.
Additionally, Alberta is recognized for its advanced metering infrastructure which is critical to developing smart grids and specifically enabling large industrial and commercial customers to control their consumption based on price signals. And, Alberta is one of four provinces recognized for providing the most comprehensive support for combined heat and power deployment in industrial settings.
